Just what is an inferred claim? This is a claim that most veterans have never heard of. This is a claim that is noted during the Adjudication of another issue and the VA should initiate the new claim as if the veteran did. The VA is Required to identify service connection even if the veteran didn't file for the issue. Once during the C&P exam the issue is discovered, the service connection is established. To infer actually means to make a well informed guess. For example, a veteran has nerve issues going from their lower back through both legs (Sciatica). It's reasonable to deduct that the veteran's bilateral nerve damage is service connected on a secondary basis. The veteran's service connected lower back issue generated the nerve issues. This is another great tool for veterans to use in their quest for a claims rating!!!!
