Rating reduction!!!!! These are words that no veteran wants to read in a letter from the VA!!!!!!! Veterans work so hard to get ratings and all of a sudden this happens!!!!! First of all don't panic!!!!!! It's just a proposal. The VA hasn't decided to reduce your rating yet. This is what has happened: The VA compensation section has received some information which suggests that a rated veteran's rated disability has improved. Maybe during a C&P exam the examiner noticed an improvement and reported it to the VA claims and compensation section. This in turn triggered a rating reduction proposal letter to be generated and sent to the veteran in question for a new examination. Whatever happened, it's up to you the veteran to respond within 60 days of receipt of the letter!!!!! First step is to request in writing a hearing/review within the first 30 days. Don't delay doing this!!!!!! This gives the veteran time to gather new and and material evidence to counter the reduction. The proposed reduction time is now extended beyond the 60 days before the proposed reduction is final. If a veteran just wants to submit new and material evidence do it before the 60 days are over. As you see a proposed rate reduction can be won!!!!!! Just submit new and material evidence before the 60 day deadline!!!!!!
