Many times veterans overlook two of the most important claims used to achieve 100%!!!!!! They don't realize the importance of exploring the possibility of secondary and increase claims !!!!!! What is a secondary claim? It is a result of a service connected rating. In other words, the veteran was rated for tinnitus, (ringing in the ears). In time the veteran developed two new medical issues: mental health and migraine headaches.
An increase is a result of the veteran's rated service connected injury. In time the rated injury has increased with issues such as chronic pain, arthritis, mental health, just to name a few. For example, your cervical strain was rated at 10%. A year later you notice that your cervical strain is getting worst!!!! So you get an MRI and are
told that your arthritis has increased!!!! You file for an increase and are awarded 20%.
There's no special form.........the VA Form 21-526 EZ is used. The same form used for primary claims.
Actually, These types of claims can actually be more valuable than the primary claim a veteran was rated for. For example, A veteran is rated for 10% for a cervical issue. The veteran then develops severe headaches. The veteran is then rated 50% for the headaches. So remember, both secondary and increase claims can take you to 100%!!!!!!
