
Here's the deal .. Public Relations is the ability to communicate your brand, products or services or message to the masses at large. The further ability to create and pass along that message is the cornerstone of what publicity is all about. Ideally, you want folks to walk away with a positive understanding about whatever you're trying to get across.
I call it M.A.S.S. (Marketing, Advertising, Sales and Social Media).. How does it all play apart in your business? Well, first marketing is the contrived effort to promote a product or service with the end result being the delivery of that effort. There are many different types of marketing efforts, some you may not be as aware that there is a very conscious effort to sell you something. Advertising is very straightforward, you know that watching your favorite television program, you'll see and advertisement for a new hair product or sneakers that you cannot wait to order online. We have grown accustomed to seeing ads playout on television, radio, magazines and the like and now the Internet. Advertising is what drives all forms of media. Sales is clearly the end result of all of your promotions efforts. I define it by thinking it is the art of ringing the cash register. What does it take to make that happen? Well, this is where there should be an intersection between Public Relations (PR), Marketing, Advertising and Sales. Social media offers the platforms and delivers the persons to receive your efforts.
